Peak climbing in Nepal has become quite popular over the years. Peak climbers from all over the world make their way to Nepal as this country has several peaks.
One of the most popular peaks is the Mera peak. The highest trekking peak in Nepal which has a maximum altitude of 6,461m/ 21,190ft. Mera peak climbing is a challenging climb but if you are looking for some thrill, you have come to the right place.
The best time for your climb would be during spring and autumn. March, April and May are the months that come under spring season. September, October and November would come under the autumn season. During these two seasons, you will have clear weather and the will experience a dazzling display of the mountains.
The Mera Peak Climb is planned in a detailed way. There will be constant ascent and day a will be set aside to help you acclimatize with the increasing altitude.
We will take a route from the south of Lukla and head up the Hinku Valley and then return and take the Zatra La Pass. Get ready to be mesmerized by the unimpeded view of the mountains and experience the distinct culture of this region.
If you have a basic mountaineering experience, this climb would be perfect for you. This peak will certainly be a difficult one, mainly due to its sheer elevation. Despite all of this you will be fine as this climb just requires basic mountaineering skills. Also, the Sherpa guides will provide you mountaineering training. With the help of these experts, you will be able to climb the peak.

Your guides will check your climbing equipment and give you necessary suggestions. If you have not brought some of the equipment, you can make your purchase. This time should also be used to bond with your guides and fellow climbers.</p>
<p>Accommodation: Basic Teahouse</p><p></p><p></p><p>Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.</p><p></p><p>Duration: 5-6 hours walk</p><p></p><p>We will fly to Lukla which itself is an adventure as Lukla airport has been dubbed as one of the most dangerous airports in the world.</p><p></p><p>We will then head to Paiya. On our way to Paiya, we will come across forest trail. We will cross the famous river called Handi Khola and get to Surke village. Then we will continue our journey and go past the Chutok la Pass before reaching Paiya. Paiya is also called Chutok by the locals.</p>

The route gets a bit tricky till we cross the Kari La Pass.</p><p></p><p>This route will give us a spectacular view of the Dudh Kosi valley. On our way, we will come cross trails laden with rhododendron and bamboo forests. After walking for about 5-6 hours we will reach Panggom.</p>

After leaving the village of Panggom, we will cross the Panggom La Pass.</p><p></p><p>The trail will slowly pick up on altitude and will then cross the river called Peseng Kharka Khola and we will walk until we reach Peeng Kharka Danda.</p><p></p><p>Ningsow Khola will be the last river we will cross that day and then carry on with our journey until we reach Ningsow Village.</p>
<p>Accommodation: Basic Teahouse</p><p></p><p>Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.</p><p></p><p></p><p>Duration: 7-8 hours walk</p><p></p><p>On this day we will have to ascend in the beginning and then climb down and keep walking until we reach Ramailo Danda. Be prepared to experience the beauty of Mera Peak and Salpa Peak.</p><p></p><p>After about couple of hours of more walking, our trail will enter the Makalu National Park. Then we will take the famous Pasang Lhamu trail until we reach Chhatra Khola.</p>

We will walk parallel with Majang Khola and join another trail and continue our journey. We will then rest in a place called Tashing Ongmu which is popular for its tea and the shops that serve them. After walking about 6-7 hours, we will finally reach Kothe.</p>

We will continue our journey until we reach Gondishung. After Gondhisung our trail will take us further, on our way we will visit the famous Lungsumba Gompa. This day we will be walking for about 3-4 hours until we reach Thaknak where we will rest for the day. We rest in Thaknak for the night.</p>

We will ascend until we reach Dig Kharka. From here, we will be able to see the Charpate Himal.</p><p></p><p>We will have to go past two glaciers on this day - Hinku Nup and Shar. the climb from here is quite steep and goes on until we reach Khare. We will also be able to see the Mera Peak.</p>

So, naturally letting your body rest and adapt to the changing scenario would be smart.</p><p></p><p>On this day you will also prepare for the climb. Your climbing leader will get you acquainted with certain climbing equipment like ice axe, harness, ascender climbing boots and crampons. On this day, we will go to bed early as we need to start early the following morning.</p>
<p>Accommodation: Camping</p><p></p><p>Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.</p><p></p><p></p><p>Duration: 6-7 hours</p><p></p><p>This day is going to be quite challenging and an exciting one as well. We will take a steep trail and get to Mera Peak Base Camp. Moving on with the journey, we will come across few tricky as well as steep paths and reach Mera High Camp. We might also experience snowfall so we need to be extra careful with our steps. On this day we will set up a camp.</p><p></p><p>From the High Camp, we can enjoy the Sensational view of the Everest, Makalu, Cho Oyu, Lhotse, Nuptse, Baruntse and Chamlang. We spend the night here.</p>

This is the most important day of Mera Peak Climbing we will head to the summit of Mera Peak which is situated at a staggering altitude of 6461 meters.</p><p></p><p>We will start our journey ar 2 in the morning. Wear proper gears as it is going to be immensely cold initially. After a bit of warm-up session, we will continue our journey.</p><p></p><p>This day will be quite challenging for sure. We will climb as the way is virtually non-existent. After climbing up a steep slope on the side of the ridge, we will get the first glances of the summit. On the final checkpoint before the summit, our leader will decide if ropes are required or not. After a strenuous climb, we will get to the summit of Mera High Camp. Enjoy your success at an altitude of 6461 meters.</p><p></p><p>From here we will be given almost 360 degree view and will bale able toi savour the view of mountains such as Mt. Everest (8,848m), Cho-Oyu (8,210m), Lhotse (8,516m), Makalu (8,463m), Kangchenjunga (8,586m), Nuptse (7,855m), Chamlang (7,319m), Baruntse (7 ,129m) among others.</p><p></p><p>After spending quality time up there, we will begin our return journey. We will get down to the high camp and descend until we reach Khare.</p>

We might not be able to reach the summit in case of bad weather.</p><p></p><p>But we only take a reserve day in case of bad weather, if the weather's fine we will get to the summit and this day shall not be counted.</p><p></p>

From Khare, we get down to Kothe. We will celebrate our successful ascent of Mera Peak in Kothe with the local delicacies.</p>

We will cross several rivers and rest when we reach Taktho. We will then take another trail and continue until we reach Thuli Kharka.</p><p></p><p>Here, we will come across checkpoints filled with prayer flags.</p>

We will start by crossing the Zatrwa La Pass and from the Pass, we will be able to see the majestic Lukla Valley. Also, we will also be able to spot mountains.</p><p></p><p>We will first have to cross the Chutang village and get down to Lukla. Enjoy your last day in Everest region. Explore the town of Lukla and try few local cuisines.</p>

In Kathmandu, you can explore the tourist hub of Kathmandu which is called Thamel. You can do your shopping and pack for our departure.
