Himalayas on Foot is your trusted travel partner to the vast Himalayas with over 25 years of professional service. We are a government-licensed and officially registered travel company based in Kathmandu, Nepal. Our core values lie in maintaining utmost transparency and operating according to the “No Hidden Charge” policy. 

We encourage you to read the terms and conditions carefully before booking any trips with Himalayas on Foot. Our bookings terms and conditions are as follows:  

Trip Booking

  • For this agreement, a “Trip” refers to any itinerary, activity, or product purchased from Himalayas on Foot. As listed on our official website, a trip can include all trekking, hiking, tours, expeditions, and adventure programs. 
  • A binding contract between Himalayas on Foot and the Client comes into effect upon the company issuing a formal confirmation email. 
  • Himalayas on Foot has the right to adjust (increase or decrease) the published prices before trip confirmation. 
  • Himalayas on Foot strictly states that its liability is limited to the terms and conditions expressed herein, and it shall not be bound by any external warranty, collateral agreement, prior understanding, or non-explicit description of services.

Trip Prices/Costs

  • The price/cost mentioned on our trip package pages is valid for booking and paying the deposit in full. 
  • The costs of most trips are based on the number of bookings. Our calculator automatically calculates the costs when you submit the number of participants. Therefore, the group price applies to your travel group only and does not apply to individual bookings. 
  • Separate bookings can be made for your group members. However, we strongly recommend informing our travel experts/operators in advance. 

Deals, Offers, Coupons, and Discounts

  • Deals, offers, and coupons can be made available on special occasions or particular dates, especially when we have a minimum number of travelers to run a trip. 
  • We also have early-bird offers and last-minute deals. 
  • Our discounts are generally applicable to the land cost of the trip only and may exclude permit fees, domestic flights, or third-party service charges.
  • All special offers, discounts, and coupons are subject to specific terms and conditions and are non-transferable and non-refundable.

Online Payment by Card

Down Payment:

Under company policy, you are required to submit at least a 10% refundable deposit in advance to secure your spot. You will receive a package quote personalized to your interests and preferences. The remaining balance can be paid upon arrival in Kathmandu, but before your trip.

Final Payments

Nepal Trips:

The outstanding balance of your trip should be paid before the trip departure. It can be paid by cash or credit card (Visa, Master Card, or American Express). Settling your travel balance by card is subject to 4% handling surcharge, payable by the travelers. To avoid additional tax, we strongly recommend you bring USD or any other convertible foreign currency.

Tibet, Bhutan, and India Trips:

The final payment for Tibet and Bhutan should be made 30 days before the scheduled trip date. Payments can be made through bank transfer or Credit Card (4% extra handling surcharge applies).

Cancellation Policy (In Case of Cancellation by Clients/You)

Trip cancellation notice should be provided in writing and acknowledged by Himalayas on Foot. In case of cancellation, the following charges are applicable:

Cancellation of Nepal Trips

  • Before 60 days: 20% of the trip cost
  • Between 60 and 7 days: 50% of the trip cost
  • Before 6 and 2 days: 75% of the trip cost
  • Less than 2 days, and once the trips start: 100%

Cancellation of Tibet and Bhutan Trips: 60 days or more before departure: 50%

Cancellation of Tibet and Bhutan Trips: 60 days or less before departure: 100%

Notes:

  • Customers are strongly advised to buy an insurance policy that covers trip cancellation.
  • If you voluntarily leave the trip after it has begun, no refunds will be made. 
  • We accept last-minute bookings up to one day before the trip/tour in Nepal. Last-minute bookings for India, Bhutan, and Tibet require at least 10 days' prior bookings and depend on availability. 

Cancellation Policy (In Case of Cancellation by Operator/Us)

Himalayas on Foot reserves the right to cancel any trips, including guaranteed trips, in the event of circumstances beyond our control, such as natural disasters, flight cancellations, political instability, or any other unforeseen reason. In such a case, the travelers are refunded the total amount after deducting the amount that has been spent on logistical preparations. 

Passport and Visas

Travelers are required to have a valid passport with six months' validity. A Nepali visa can be obtained from Nepalese embassies or consulates in your country, or upon arrival at Kathmandu Airport. 

Complaints

If you have complaints about the trip, inform your travel guide, operator, or leader as soon as possible. Himalayas on Foot will take immediate and appropriate actions if found guilty. 

Safety Commitment and Necessary Disclaimer

As a trusted operator, Himalayas on Foot’s primary goal is to provide a complete itinerary and a safe journey. However, please be advised that we cannot be held responsible in the event of unforeseen circumstances beyond our control that necessitate changes to the itinerary. It is essential to understand that the adventurous nature of our high-altitude expeditions and treks involves a degree of personal risk, which the client should acknowledge and accept upon booking their trip. 

Use of Photos and Videos

You may appear in photos and/or videos taken by our guides or representatives during the trip. The sole purpose of such content is to promote business and marketing through the website and social platforms. 

Notes:

  • The laws of Nepal govern the above terms and conditions. We (Himalayas on Foot) are located in Kathmandu, Nepal. So, any dispute arising out of these terms and conditions will be solved by the District Court, High Court, and Supreme Court of Nepal.
  • There will not be a case in a foreign country, and the parties agree that the court of Nepal is the appropriate forum for any claim or dispute.
